Magnificent Monday-It’s been a challenge!

Greetings Desserters! Today is our favorite day and I can tell you that already it has presented some challenges! You guys know that I don’t buy into the “Blue Monday” stuff and I can’t positively say that it’s because it’s Monday that challenges have presented themselves but what I can tell you is that it has taken some serious self-talk to get me to this point of calm! LOL!!

This morning when I was attempting to post this I had a fight with my internet connection and for a couple of hours it stubbornly wouldn’t comply with my attempts to connect  rendering me helpless in communicating with y’all on this blog! After starting and restarting my computer a couple times and troubleshooting the connection I am finally back in business-literally!

Talk about frazzled! I have so many things running through this head of mine it’s a wonder I can keep up with it all! My kids got up earlier than usual-during the time when I’m usually working (no internet remember?)-while I was trying to reestablish my relationship with my internet connection and I had to do the mommy stuff.

But here is what I wanted to say today and hopefully encourage you if Monday is challenging you too: I realized that it is the beginning of the week and yes, challenges present themselves and we usually chalk them up to it being Monday. But I have learned that Monday reveals the strength that is within us! It reveals the skills within us that we may not have known that we had (didn’t know I could fix my internet connection all while tending to four kids all with different “demands!”)! It reveals to us that we do indeed possess the ability  to set the tone for how we want our week to go! We are in command of our happiness and Monday is the day to decide what that will look like for you!

I hope that you have decided that your week is going to be just what you want it to be and not let the challenges of Monday (or any day) prevent you from experiencing the joys (Desserts) that life has to offer you! When the challenges arise shift your focus to what matters to you most and as I learned today, that is what you will bring forth!

Magnificent Monday to you and remember to always take time to live and enjoy your life FIRST; always Eat Your Dessert First!

Connect the dots!

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect the dots looking back. so you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future you have to trust in something… your gut, destiny, life, Karma, whatever, because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well worn path and that will make all the difference!” Those were the words Steve Jobs spoke to the graduating class of Stanford University in 2005. Most of us have heard it and were in awe of what he spoke. I continue to listen to this speech almost every day. But how many of us have taken heed to those words and followed our intuition as he so eloquently stated? How many many of us are following our hearts and doing what we desire to do vs. what someone else tells us we should be doing? How many of us are facing the failures and challenges that we have experienced in life and allowing those challenges to launch us into our destiny? How many of us are refusing to settle for something we don’t want to do in favor of doing what we luv? Steve Jobs encouraged us to do what we luv and not to settle!

Yeah, Steve was one of the greatest innovators of our time but what I hope you understand is that not only was Steve Jobs one of the greatest innovators of our time but YOU too are one of the greatest! Like Steve, you have been given gifts and talents to create that which the world has never seen before. Make sure that when you transition you have used your gifts and talents for that purpose! Be creative in your thinking, confident in your ideas and bold in your delivery! The world will thank you!

But perhaps Seth Godin said it best with his Eulogy of Action. I hope that you will read it and take heed to it. I hope that like Steve Jobs YOU will embrace your legacy and use your gifts and talents to allow it to unfold. I hope that you will  use your gifts and your talents, as Steve did, to leave a legacy that will fill history books and Facebook newsfeeds for years to come!  I hope that you will trust the voice within you and follow it to your greatness!   And above all I hope that you will always live your life first and leave the worrying behind! I hope you will always Eat Your Dessert First!
